An Egyptian e-visa means that you need to first lodge an online application. The process is quite simple because here, you do not need to share any documents or email any forms. All you need to do is -- complete the application form online and upload the scanned pages of your passport’s biodata. Once the visa is approved, a link to download your e-visa will be emailed to you. You should download the document and keep a copy of this approval letter. However, this is not an actual visa. You still have to present the approval letter, along with your passport and other supporting documents at the immigration office after you arrive in Egypt. Passport control officers have the authority to verify your e-visa on their system. If any data does not match or they feel that some information is missing, officers have the right deny you entry into Egypt . If everything is in order, the officer. post verification, shall stamp the actual visa on the blank page of your passport.
Egyptian airports also offer an option for visa on arrival. Here, you need to buy a visa after you land at the port of entry by paying the required fee in Sterling, US Dollars or Euros. For a visa on arrival, you do not need to do anything before your travel. Just present your passport, alongside other supporting documents, and you shall get the visa. You need to make the visa fee payment at any of the approved bank kiosks within the airport. This visa allows you a maximum stay period of 30 days. However, if you wish to obtain a visa with validity of more than 30 days, you can go for an e-visa, that needs to be obtained before you travel to Egypt. As explained above, for obtaining an e-visa, you need to finish an online application, after which you get an approval letter. Upon presenting this letter, the visa is stamped on your passport at the port of entry.
Currently, the e-visa facility is only available for UK citizens who plan to enter Egypt for tourism or for visiting friends and family. If you plan to enter Egypt for business-related activities, we would recommend you to apply for a business visa via the Egyptian Embassy in London.
Yes, after you finish entering all the details in the visa application form, you shall get a payment option. You need to make an online payment for the visa fee via debit or credit card.
An application for an e-visa should be made at least seven days before your planned dates of travel into Egypt. To avoid any unwanted surprises, we would recommend making the application within 15 days before your expected arrival in Egypt.
