the citizens of Bhutan, Maldives and Nepal, the citizens of other countries

will depend on your travel purpose and duration of stay. If you are travelling

The application as well as
approval process will be done online for Indian e-business visa and e-tourist
visa. For other travel purposes, a regular visa is needed. Since a regular visa
is affixed on the passport, one must send their required documents and passport

All you need to know about Visa for India
An India visa may be a regular visa or an e-visa. The regular visa
requires applicants to send passport to Visa Genie or to Indian embassy for
visa stamping whole e-visa is an online procedure completely.
The e-visa is issued when
the applicant is travelling for business, tourism or medical purposes. If you
are travelling for other reason like studies, employment, filming, then regular
visa is needed.
Based on your purpose of
travel, applicants may apply for India e-tourist visa, e-conference visa, e-business
visa, e-medical attendant visa or e-medical visa. The citizens from almost 161
countries including UK will be entitled to apply for India e-visa online.
If you are travelling for
tourism or visiting family or friends in India, then an Indian e-tourist visa
is needed. In the same way, the ones travelling for business meetings as well
as negotiations can also apply for India e-business visa. Both e-tourist visa
and e-business visa will be valid for one year from the date of issue and enable
applicants to stay in India for 180 days at the most for each visit.
The e-conference visa may
be applied by the ones who are travelling on conferences to India. This is a
single-entry visa that begins from the date of arrival in India and enables
holder to live in India for 30 days.
The India e-medical visa and
e-medical assistant visa can be applied by the ones who require medical
assistance in India. The visa starts from when you arrive in India and allows
you to stay for 90 days at the most.
All India e-visa may be
availed for three times at the most in a year. Visitors with e-visa can enter
India through international airports of Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai,
Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Cochin, Goa, Ahmedabad, Amritsar,
Gaya, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Visakhapatnam, Madurai, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Trichy,
Varanasi, Calicut, Mangalore, Pune, Nagpur, Coimbatore, Bagdogra, Guwahati, Port
Blair OR visa sea port of Cochin, Mumbai, Chennai, Mormugao, New Mangalore.
In case of all India e-visa
applications, the applicants should have a legal machine-readable passport for
6 months from the date of arrival in India. Besides, the passport must have 2
blank pages for stamping and pages need not be next to each other.
Regular India Visa
The exception of Business,
Tourist and Medical visas can be applied online as e-visas and other visa
applications should be presented to the Indian embassy in London for its approval.
Regular India Tourist Visa:
The India tourist visa is
usually applied by foreign nationals who are not a resident of India or are
working in India. The activities included in this visa are restricted to meeting
friends, relatives, tourism, attending weddings or sightseeing. In case of
other activities, India visa will be
needed. The validity is one year, however this depends completely on the
embassy and short validity may even be granted. India tourist visa will not be
extended from India and the applicant has to return before the expiry of their

India Visa For Non-UK Citizens
It is necessary to provide proof of residence
in the UK for 2 years in the form of utility bill, tenancy agreements or
council tax bills. However, mobile bills or bank statements will not be
accepted. In case, proof of address in the UK is not available for 2 years, then
applicants must submit an additional form and the processing may require almost
3 weeks in such cases.

Letter from the UK Employer
Afghanistan and Bangladesh nationals, all applications must
include a letter from the employer and at least one month bank statement.
A Business Visa is provided
for the ones who are conducting business in India like preparing for sales or
establishing contacts for a company outside India. India Business visas are
usually valid for three months to one year or more with single or multiple
entries. However, the time of stay in India for this category has been
restricted to 6 months only.
When submitting application
for business visa, you will have to provide a copy of invitation letter from
Indian company and one original signed letter for the company in UK.
Urgent India Business Visa:
The ones who are applying
on an Urgent 24-hour business visa and the letter from UK organization should
include reason for your urgent travel and a statement confirming that all
expenses will be undertaken by the company. The Indian invitation letter must include

India Employment Visa:
An Employment Visa will be
granted to the ones who are an employee of an Indian company / or who want to
do a non-profitable social service with Registered NGOs in India. The Consulate
or Embassy may provide an Employment visa valid for 1 year regardless of the

further extension of maximum 5 years from FRRO / MHA in the concerned state in
India. These extensions are usually done on a yearly basis.
If you need to apply for an India visa for employment, all the applicants
must earn a salary of minimum USD 25,000. However, there are some exceptions to
this rule. For example, this will not be applicable for charity workers who
want to commence unpaid jobs. Fashion designers who are employed in the
handicraft sector will be excused from this requirement during the first two
years of employment.
An employment contract will
be mandatory in all cases. This contract must be signed by both the parties with
a clause about the liability of taxes in India. The employer in India must
issue a letter / undertaking confirming the details and place of work. If the
employer works in an IT company in India, then the letter must confirm they are
either a part of software technology park of India with the registration number
or an export-oriented unit.
India Student Visa:
Student visas will be given
to the ones who want to continue with regular studies at the recognized
institutions in India. The visa is single, double or triple entry which will be
valid for the period of study, as it has been approved by the educational
institution in India.
All applicants must submit
the letter from admission with course details, confirmation of fees payment and
proof of sufficient funding in India.
India Entry Visa:
‘Entry Visa’ will be
granted if the applicant fails to meet the needs of other types of visa. For
example, you will have to submit application for ‘Entry Visa’ to India in case
you need to do short-term courses in India like mountaineering, yoga or
spiritual. One can even apply for an entry visa for those non-business

India Intern Visa:
An Intern Visa will be granted
to applicants who want to travel to India for pursuing internship in Indian
Companies, Charities or Educational Institutes. You will be eligible for this
visa only when you have graduation degree. You will have to provide a letter
from the Indian organization on their headed paper that illustrates internship program
and period of internship. It should be kept in mind that the gap between
graduation/post-graduation and commencement of internship should not be more
than 1 year.
India Conference Visa:
‘Conference Visa’ will be
given to the ones who have an invitation to a seminar, workshop or conference
organized by the Ministry or Department of Government of India, Central
Educational Institutions, State Governments, Public Sector Undertakings, An
organization owned and controlled by the Government of India or State
Government, Public Funded University, UN and its specialized agencies, reputed
NGO’s. If you have to attend a conference of a private organization, then you may
apply for a business visa.
You can apply for this
purpose by submitting an application for India e-conference visa. If a paper
visa is needed, then the applicant will require a letter from the conference organizers
in India with copy of clearance that is issued to such organizers who hold the
conference. This is usually issued to them by the local government body.
India Journalist Visa:
All the applicants employed
within this media industry should apply for a Journalist visa, despite their
visit purpose. If you are not travelling for work, the applicants should produce
a letter from the employer confirming they are on a holiday and won’t pursue
any professional work.
India Film / Fashion Visa:
You have to apply for a
Film Visa for India when you plan to make a commercial film or a TV show. The
Ministry of Information and Broadcasting process and reviews visa application
within 15 working days in case filming involves sensitive issues, forest
reserves, or if the film/documentary requires aerial or underwater shooting.
After the proposal gets
accepted, you will be provided with a ‘Journalist Visa’ to travel to India for
India Research Visa:

in India should apply for a ‘Research Visa.’ It is quite difficult to get this
